Bears set to take on Rams tonight

ST. LOUIS – One week after winning their second straight division title, the Bears can clinch a first-round bye in the playoffs and maintain their two-game lead atop the NFC with a road victory tonight over the St. Louis Rams on Monday Night Football.

With a win at the Edward Jones Dome, Chicago (10-2) would match last season’s victory total and secure at least the No. 2 seed in the playoffs, leaving the New Orleans Saints (9-4) as the only team that could catch the Bears for the top seed.

Rex Grossman will try to break out of an ongoing slump and revive an offense that generated just 107 total yards in last Sunday’s win over the Vikings, the unit’s lowest output in six years. Grossman completed just 6 of 19 passes for 34 yards with three interceptions and a career-low 1.3 passer rating that was the worst by a winning quarterback in the NFL in 35 years.

Grossman was named NFC Offensive Player of the Month for September and later was being touted as an NFL MVP candidate after throwing 10 touchdown passes and three interceptions in the first five games of the season. But he has thrown 14 interceptions and lost four fumbles in his last seven outings.

Grossman looks to get back on track after throwing three interceptions and no TD passes in each of his last two games versus the Patriots and Vikings. He entered Week 13 ranked 26th in the NFL with a 72.0 passer rating.

Veteran backup Brian Griese has only played sparingly this season, completing 7 of 8 passes for 45 yards with no TDs or interceptions while mopping up in wins over Detroit, Seattle, Buffalo and San Francisco. Griese hasn’t appeared in a game since Oct. 29 against the 49ers.

Griese signed with the Bears in March after passing for 16,344 yards with 103 TDs, 78 interceptions and an 84.8 passer rating in eight seasons with the Broncos (1998-2002), Dolphins (2003) and Buccaneers (2004-05). He led the NFL in the preseason with a 141.7 passer rating.

Tommy Harris out for the season?

There are report that claims Tommy Harris not only suffers from a mcl sprain but a possible torn hamstring also. Lovie Smith claimed that "no one in the league" has a player quite like the third-year defensive tackle.

Chicago Bears defensive coordinator, Ron "chico" Rivera said that team will rotate defensive tackles with the players on th roster. Possibly mean the Bears will not seek help at the position via free agency. He also adding that by rotating players, chemistry could be hurt.
